Orville Peck covers his face, wearing fridge-filled masks while performing and starring in music videos. However, for his appearance in Ivy Park’s Rodeo Campaign, this artist revealed the bridge of his nose — something he only did for Beyoncé.

Why Does Orville Peck Cover His Face?

Orville Peck is the songwriter behind “Dead of Night,” “Roses are Falling,” and “The Curse of the Blackened Eye.” He also earned the GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding Breakout Music Artist.

The country star is best known for wearing a mask with fringe. Orville Peck does not show his face while performing, even walking at several fashion-related events with his face covered. Orville Peck is not the artist’s real name, either, with the singer using this pseudonym to release music.

While spending time with Mo Heart for Amazon’s The Walk In, this artist discussed some of his artistic influences, including Dolly Parton. Known for her blonde hair and acrylic nails, so much of Parton’s image was intertwined with her music persona.

Wearing a mask is only partly to eliminate that. Orville Peck also described wearing a mask as getting in drag — it’s a way to showcase the deeper parts of himself, allowing him to be more authentic. Of course, Peck still expresses himself through clothing and his masks, even wearing a mask while working with Beyoncé.

Orville Peck partnered with Beyoncé for an Ivy Park X Adidas collection

While Mo Heart riffled through Orville Peck’s outfits, she pointed out a blue hoodie and pant combo. The drag performer picked up the items, saying, “now this is very different out of the collection. Could be a dad of four kids.”

“This is when I did the Ivy Park rodeo campaign,” the singer noted. “This is Miss Beyoncé… she’s the first person who got me to actually show the bridge of my nose for the first time… They said, ‘we’re so sorry you can’t keep the hat because Beyoncé owns it.’”

Mo Heart joked that Beyoncé has plenty of money and can spare the hat. Regardless, Orville Peck had an exciting year, with his song “Dead of Night” featured in HBO’s drama series Euphoria.

Another outfit included flowers hand-sewn onto the jacket, while another was custom from Dior. Beyoncé partnered with other artists for her Ivy Park collection, even sending PR packages to celebrities like Zendaya, Cardi B, Kehlani, and Janelle Monáe.

Orville Peck’s album ‘Bronco’ debuted in 2022

Orville Peck continues to celebrate his success with an appearance at 2022’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. He collaborated with RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Trixie Mattel for “Jackson.”

In 2022, the artist debuted his album Bronco, complete with “The Curse of the Blackened Eye,” “Any Turn,” and “Daytona Sand.” Most music by Peck is available on major streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
