Yeager believes he has inherited the neurological disease from his father, who also died from ALS according to Showbiz Cast.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or commonly known as Lou Gehrig's sickness is a progressive nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing loss of muscle control.
The disease gets its nickname Lou Gehrig's sickness from the baseball player who was diagnosed with ALS and was the most famous case of the time.
As medical science has taken a leap in the past few decades, doctors and researchers are still unaware of the actual cause of the disease. However, they have found some of the cases of ALS are inherited from either parents or grandparents according to Mayo Clinic.
James marching towards his inevitable death from the disease has decided to volunteer in Ukraine. As more people take up arms against Russian troops, he will be helping the military by providing training to other volunteers.
