He is playing both Ronnie AND Reggie in the highly-anticipated The Krays biopic.

And Tom Hardy proved he is fully dedicated when it comes to the transformation necessary for the roles as he gave the first look at the less than pleasant teeth he sports in the movie.

The 36-year-old  actor took time out after a long day filming to stop and greet fans who had been waiting patiently for a chance to get a picture with the star.

Despite injuring his ankle during a dramatic fight scene this month, the star was seen shimming up a drainpipe in order to kiss, deliver some flowers and propose to his love interest.

The romantic scene, filmed in South East London, also starred Emily Browning who plays Reggie Kray's wife Frances Shea.

Shea was married to Reggie for just two years, before dying of an overdose when she was 24 years of age. Her diary was due to be auctioned off last month, according to the Independent.

Tom looked smart dressed in a blue suit with his dark locks slicked back, while Emily was channelling a very cute red cardigan as she stood by her window.

Hardy's athleticism was all the more impressive given that he had to go and see a specialist after hurting his ankle. It was so bad that filming was halted.

The film also stars David Thewlis and Christopher Eccleston.

At Cannes this year there was a lot of interest in the film, with the response from buyers that it 'was one of the best scripts' they'd come across.

Confirming the news in April, Tom said: 'I'm on that right now. I've got to work out how to play both twins, which will be fun. It's another experiment and I'm really looking forward to it.

'I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself, I just want to have some fun. The more of a challenge I give myself, the easier it is to take on more projects which are complicated in the future.'

From a screenplay penned by LA Confidential writer, Brian Helgeland, the story will focus on the Kray twins’ wheelings and illegal dealings during the fifties and sixties, with Hardy playing both brothers.

‘It would be difficult,’ Tom said about the mechanics of playing two characters sharing a lot of the same screen time. ‘It’s quite technical and I’m a bit of an anorak.’

Meanwhile the actor has opened up about his support for Help For Heroes, revealing: 'Having good friends in our armed forces and family, this charity is close to home and I feel I would like to say,
Help For Heroes is an essential and fundamentally brilliant charity, that helps our veterans rebuild their lives after the years or their time of service in our armed forces.

'Help for Heroes has made a substantial effort and contribution in an ongoing endeavour to support those who have served our Country in her Majesties Armed Forces. Much in the way that those who have served and continue to serve endeavour to protect our country and others at all times over the many years that we have had a military. We can always do more to support and look out for our military personel as they do and have done for us.

'On a quiet and respectful note I think it's fantastic that 1 million  pounds has been raised by Bells Whisky for this charity, over the time it has supported Help for Heroes and our veterans, and also with this initiative "Message in a bottle night" which is an Artistic exhibition that gives insight into the lives of wounded and injured ex-Servicemen and women, their families and supporters, including Help for Heroes staff.

'I only wish I could have bunked off work to go and hang out with the lads and ladies that night.'
